Invicta Men’s Pro Diver Collection Grand Diver Automatic Watch #3047 Classically styled with powerful lines and featuring a precise Swiss-made automatic watch movement, the shock-resistant Invicta Grand Diver men’s stainless steel watch is made for serious scuba fanatics with a water resistance rating to 300 meters (nearly 1000 feet). This large, round watch measures 47mm wide (1.85 inches) and 17mm thick (0.67 inches) and it’s made from solid surgical grade stainless steel. It also offers a skeleton see-through caseback and molded diving helmet logos on the end pieces connecting the silver stainless steel bracelet band as well as on the screw-down crown. It’s topped by a green unidirectional rotating elapsed time bezel with white markings. The black dial face is supplemented by Tritnite luminous dotted markers and arrowhead-style hands (with seconds hand). Other features include an anti-reflective crystal with magnifier, date function at 3 o’clock, and diver’s buckle with safety clasp.

Customer Review: sharp looking watch
very nice looking watch. mine seems to be fairly accurate for an inexpensive mechanical movement, gains about 15 seconds a day, and it’s still fairly new, so it will probably improve. much more accurate than my other auto watch, which has no winding option. this runs for a few days after about 15 hand-winds. so you won’t need a watch winder. the quartz alarm version, with the sapphire crystal and 5-row individual link band is a little nicer. this one has a mineral crystal, but it seems like a quality item.
Customer Review: A good banger watch when you still need to be conspicuous
Initial impressions:

The 47mm case combined with the emerald bezel and onyx face is bound to illicit a double take from anyone within 12 feet. It is amazing how often I notice passerby making a glance and acquaintances ask me about it after just a week has passed since they asked about it before.

This timepiece is heavy, it is just one ounce less than my Seamaster PO (this Invicta weighs 8 ounces / half a pound) but the edges aren’t rough and won’t chaff your wrist even when swinging a driver or a 9-Iron.

The bracelet is easy to adjust and can be accomplished with any of the link pin pushers for sale on Amazon, in lieu of a tool use a pair of socks as a bench rest and a stiff pin from another watch bracelet to push out one of the bracelet links on this one.

The clear case back shows an austere Miyota movement, just one visible ruby jewel and is unlikely to impress anyone who is familiar with an exquisite movement.

Function Adjustments:

Screw down crown is easy to open, but date adjustment is touchy, after the crown is unscrewed the first pull accesses the date adjuster but it is extremely easy to pull to winding mode while turning the crown counter clockwise to adjust the date. Date adjustment is unidirectional, if you wind past the date you have to make another 31 winds to get back to where you needed to be.

Winding is clockwise if you need to give this automatic an extra boost of power reserve, the Miyota movement seems smooth and sturdy (Miyota was purchased by Citizen of Japan and is the supplier of Citizen automatic movements).

Performance:

Although this watch is an automatic the second hand still suffers from the “tick-sweep” that afflicts most Miyota movements, it doesn’t really sweep like an automatic but doesn’t purely tick like a quartz, the motion is somewhere in between.

The unidirectional bezel rotates counter clockwise 120 clicks which isn’t often found on a less expensive watch like this but is expected with a Breitling or Rolex.

The watch isn’t very accurate, it consistently gains time, at first it gained five minutes a day but is slowing down. Speedy movements aren’t uncommon with inexpensive automatics when they are new, it is attributed to over lubrication until the lubricant wears into the movement, after 4 months it is only gaining ~2 minutes a day.

Bottom Line:
If you want an inexpensive and eye catching watch with some weight and substance, this Invicta is worth considering. But is also worth considering upgrading for a few dollars more to a Tissot and become a member of the Swatch family which also makes Omega and Rado and owns the ETA line of Swiss movements, considered by many to be some of the best watch movements in the world.

There are some Invicta models equipped with Swiss ETA movements and new ones are constantly being added, it is worth researching.
